Ajax played a friendly against amateur side FC Hilversum on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the host club. The guests, with many youth players in the squad, won by 0-10.
With many players already gone to their national teams, coach Danny Blind used more than a few players from the A1-juniors and Young Ajax. With Vurnon Anita (right back), Donovan Slijngard (left back) Jan Vertonghen and Javier Martina (right wing), the starting lineup looked quite different from the usual league lineup. Emmanuel Boakye was in the last line the player with the most experience. Hans Vonk, Olaf Lindenbergh and Yannis Anastasiou provided some veteran savvy. Nourdin Boukhari, Steven Pienaar and Nicolae Mitea rounded out the starting eleven.
Still, Ajax had no trouble with the amateur side FC Hilversum. Nicolae Mitea opened the score after just one minute and young Belgian Jan Vertonghen showe his ability to score from distance a minute later: 0-2.
Yannis Anastasiou made it 0-3 himself and he set up Mitea for 0-4. Boukhari made it 0-5 and 0-6 and Martina, also from distance, scored for the 0-7 halftime score.
Martina also scored the first goal of the second half (0-8) after which Vertonghen, again with a thunderous effort from long range, made it 0-9.
More Ajax talents came on after that. Goalkeeper Marco van Duin, Michael Timisela, Murat Yildirim, John Goossens, Rydell Poepon and Derk Boerrigter finished the last 30 minutes. Boerrigter scored the last goal: 0-10.
