Ajax has reached an agreement with André Ooijer. The transfer – free defender signed a contract in Amsterdam which is effective immediately, and runs for one season, until June 30, 2011.
Ooijer was born on July 11 1974 in Amsterdam. He went through Ajax’s youth training program, after which he played for for FC Volendam, Roda JC, PSV, Blackburn Rovers in England, finally returning to PSV. He’s won five national titles to date, two KNVB Cups and three Johan Cruijff Plates.
On June 5, 1999, Ooijer made his debut with the Dutch national team and has played 55 matches to date. At the World Cup 2010, he was on the squad for the quarterfinal match against Brazil, which the Dutch team won 2-1.
