Ajax selection for match against Rapid Wien

Ajax travels to Austria on Tuesday with eighteen players for the first match against Rapid Wien. The match in the Ernst Happel Stadion is the first of two third round qualification matches for the UEFA Champions League. Amin Younes sustained an injury on Monday, and was forced to step aside.

Viktor Fischer returns to the match selection. As a precaution, the Dane didn’t play in last week’s friendly match against AS Saint-Etienne. Compared to the match in Valence, Lucas Andersen is absent from this match selection. Mike van der Hoorn is also absent; the defender has been suspended. Queensy Menig has since been loaned out to PEC Zwolle.

Update: Amin Younes sustained an injury to his left thigh at the end of Monday’s training. Due to this injury, he will not travel to Vienna. Frank de Boer will not take a replacement.

The Ajax selection leaves on Tuesday morning from Schiphol. Kick-off in Vienna will be on Wednesday at 21:05. One week later, Ajax and Rapid Wien will face each other in the Amsterdam ArenA. Tickets are still available for this critical return match.
