Ajax opens Aegon Future Cup with a win

Ajax B1 has had a good start at the Aegon Future Cup. On the main field at the Toekomst, Saïd Ouaali’s team was too strong for Celtic, defeating them 1-0. The Scots scored an own goal in the 44th minute.

It was a good start for Ajax, who was the better team during the entire match. Celtic U17 had several dangerous breakaways in the beginning, but towards the end of the first half, Ajax was in control. Donny van de Beek performed well, coming close to scoring three times. Captain Abdel Nouri was a continuous threat in front of the Scottish goal.

The victory finally came thanks to an own goal by Celtic. Jamie McCart sent a pass from Ajax substitute Javairo Dilrosun past his own keeper. Ajax has thus won its first points, and they will play Corinthians in their second match on Saturday afternoon. The Brazilian team has started the tournament off badly, losing 0-4 to Liverpool.
