Ajax had a bit of luck in the first half against NAC Breda. Danny Blind's team did not break under the pressure, but survived some scary moments. At the point where NAC seemed to get the upper hand Markus Rosenberg gave Ajax the lead. Wesley Sneijder put away the match with the second goal after halftime.
,,We started poorly'', said coach Danny Blind. ,,To be honest, we did not really get going until after about 20 minutes. The first half was for NAC.'' But after NAC had missed two big chances, Wesley Sneijder set up Rosenberg in the counter attack. The Swede finished his rush with a cool goal: 0-1.
Like last week, Ajax played with strikers Charisteas and Rosenberg up front. Nigel de Jong and Nourdin Boukhari manned the flanks and midfielder Wesley Sneijder gave his team the most offensive impulses.
NAC's coach Ton Lokhoff was mainly disappointed with the way his team allowed the first goal. ,,It was a wild pass forward. My defenders weren't positioned properly. You can't make this kind of mistakes, especially against a team like Ajax. In the second half we had no more energy.''
Offensively, NAC could not put Ajax under any more pressure. The home side lost the grip on the match. Blind attributed that to his team. ,,We played a very well organised and discilpined second half.''
Wesley Sneijder ended all NAC's hoped by making it 0-2 ten minutes before the end. This time Rosenberg did the preparations. The Swede moved through the defence and the ball came to Sneijder off goalkeeper Van Zwam's leg. Sneijder had no problems putting the ball in the empty goal: 0-2.
Ajax went to fourth place in the table with the win.
