Ajax and Nikos Machlas part ways

With mutual consent Ajax and Nikos Machlas have terminated their contract, effective immediately. Nikos Machlas can now join another club on a free transfer. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

Nikos Machlas made his debut for Ajax in the match for the Johan Cruijff Shield on August 8 1999. The Greek international played a total of 93 official matches for Ajax in which he scored 44 times.

With Ajax Machlas won both the Dutch championship and the Amstel Cup in the 2001-2002 season. In 2001 he also won the national title with Ajax 2.

Machlas played 74 league matches in the Ajax strip. He scored 38 goals in the eredivisie.

Nikos Machlas was hired out to Spanish side Sevilla last season.

Before coming to Ajax Nikos Machlas played for OFI Kreta and Vitesse.
