Ajax and John O'Brien extend contract

John O'Brien has extended his contract with Ajax. The 26-year old American now has a contract to 30 June 2005. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

John O’Brien signed his first contract for Ajax in July of 1998. He made his debut for the first team on 16 September 1999, in the UEFA Cup match against Dukla Banska Bystrica (result 6-1). The American midfielder has played 63 league matches for Ajax, in which he scored 3 goals. In 2002 O’Brien won the national championship with Ajax, plus the Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield. In that year Ajax also won the Amsterdam Tournament.

O’Brien has played 21 matches for the national team of the United States.
