Agreement about Mido between Ajax and Olympique de Marseille

Ajax and Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement about the transfer of Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam. The Eggyptian international still has a contract with Ajax until June 30 2006. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

Mido and Olympique de Marseille are negotiating the player's contract. The agreement between Ajax and Olympique de Marseille still depends on the agreement between Mido and the French club.

Olympique de Marseille finished in third place in the French league last season and thus qualified - like Ajax - for the third preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League.

Mido made his debut for Ajax in the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League against Celtic (3-1 for the Scottish side) on August 8 2001. He made his first goal for Ajax in the home match against Sparta (3-0 to Ajax) on September 23 of that same year.

With Ajax Mido won the Dutch title, the Amstel Cup, the Johan Cruijff Shield, the Amsterdam Tournament and the championship in the league for second teams. He was also chosen in Egypt as the best Egyptian player abroad. Mido played 40 league matches for Ajax with 21 goals. He played 57 official matches in the Ajax strip, scoring 23 times.

Mido was hired out to Spanish side Celta de Vigo midway through the 2002-2003 season. In Spain he played 8 league matches and scored 4 times. Celta de Vigo qualified for the third preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League.

Before he came to Ajax Mido played for Egyptian side Zamalek and Belgian team KAA Gent.

Mido has played 26 times for the national squad of Egypt, in which he scored 10 goals.
