Patrick Kluivert will return to Ajax as of next season. Kluivert has signed a two-year contract and will join the training staff for the club’s oldest youth players.
The 39 year-old Amsterdam native passed his Professional Coaching diploma in 2009, after which he gained experience as an assistant with Brisbane Roar FC in Australia and NEC in Nijmegen. In 2011, he continued his coaching career with the FC Twente reserves, where the former striker won the 2012/2013 championship. In 2014, he was the assistant coach for the Dutch national team in Brazil. As of March 2015, Kluivert has been the national team coach of Curaçao.
Heitinga en Knopper also youth coaches
In addition to Patrick Kluivert, Ajax has contracted three youth trainers, with an eye on next season. Two of them are former Ajacieds John Heitinga and Richard Knopper. Heitinga will focus on the younger players. The 87-time international was part of the Ajax 1 selection for the first half of the season. In addition to being a trainer for the youngest players, he will also be a coach for defenders. Richard Knopper will start training the middle youth players. The 38 year-old Ajax midfielder is currently still working as a youth coach with ADO Den Haag u/17.
Danijel Zenkovic completes the quartet and, just like Heitinga, will join the training staff for the youngest players. The 29 year-old Austrian is currently a youth coach with SK Sturm Graz (u/11). Prior to this, as a coach, he was responsible for several youth teams at the Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg for six years.
